Organizations need more than comms and tech plans. They need overall strategies that embrace a new digital world.

"I have been working for 15 years to help churches realize that the world they are trying to reach has changed. While some have caught up, most are falling further behind, and few are prepared for constant change ahead. Faith based communities are some of the most difficult organizations in which to broker change. Many stakeholders believe that changing their strategies will cause them to abandon their beliefs. This is simply not true. However, it has taught me a lot about the fear that causes resistance to necessary change."

The World is changing faster than ever

The world is changing so fast. Amazon.com didn't even exist in 1993 but had revenues of over $4 billion in 2017. Facebook was launched in 2004 and didn't open up membership to the general public until 2006. As of January 2018, it claimed 2.2 billion monthly users. We now have access to more information than we could have ever imagined and we can see it all on a tiny "phone" we keep in our pocket.

Too many organizations are getting left behind. Some are struggling to keep up. But some realize that this period of disruptive change is just beginning. These organizations are not trying to catch up, they are looking further ahead and strategizing about how to continue to engage in an uncertain future.
